Being Alone Is...Good!

Simply thinking about being alone can cause some people to have suicidal thoughts...those people suffer from monophobia.
Many people attach themselves to a significant other to ensure dependence and defeat solitude, of course that is not the only reason people are in relationships.

I am sure that in most cases, two people honestly like each other and connect...the other case is what scares me. Is there a word on the "Phobia List" that means "fear of monophobia?"
There probably is not such a term, if there were, it would apply to me, but hopefully you are thinking now...

You know that person, it may be YOU! Or your best friend or a family member. You know that person who can never be found alone, who never stays single for very long? Those people honestly scare me...or, rather the thought of ever being like them frightens me.

Being independent is a way for some people to boast about themselves. Not relying on someone else is a feat that some people hold high.

As a clarification, this is only pertaining to "girlfriend/boyfriend" relationships, because those relationships usually cause this dependence factor.

Nonetheless, this monophobic lifestyle should be looked at from another angle...how about mine?

From the viewpoint of a 20 year old college student, being single is great!

Single means no obligation to make someone else happy...you get to focus on yourself!
Single means doing whatever you want to do without having to take someone else into account...FREEDOM more or less!
And lastly, single means that you rely on yourself AKA the only person you can fully trust!

And that is the view from this side.

I do know a few monophobiacs..but I am very glad you are not one of them and you are comfortable enough with yourself to not be a monophobiac.
