Life #vaguetitle

As always, it has been a while since I have been to my blog, but thanks to my good friend and roomie B-Goodwin, I am trying to be more active in social media and prove my "Medialiteracy."

BTW, how about those Wildcats?!!!

The title of this post, as you can see, is vague and general. Life is one of those things that we cannot explain or figure out.
The true source of life is always being debated, human beings cannot control life, and I hear at least once a day "what is the meaning of life?" Just tonight at the pharmacy, I asked a customer if she had any questions and she replied with "What is the meaning of life?" And I jokingly said, "well I can help ya with your prescriptions but I cannot touch that."
Then it hit me!

YES I CAN! I KNOW THE MEANING OF LIFE...

Now you think I am crazy, huh? But not all that much really. In fact, you and I both know the meaning of life; your friends and family know too.

Life is what you make of it. Life is not definite, it is infinite. The word "life" means something different to each individual person on the planet based on their values, culture, beliefs, norms, etc. Life is what you want it to be!

It is true that I could not answer that pharmacy customer's question, because my answer would confuse her and if she were to answer, it would confuse me. That is the beauty of mankind: variation! We are all different and have different lives...

At this point in my life, the word "life" is this:

The opportunity to find who you really are, what you really like, what you want to do with the remainder of your life. Life is about keeping your head up, eyes open, and hair down if you feel like it. Life is not about worrying and stressing, it is about living (and that word can be written about in an entire other post). That is what "life" means to me right now.

What is the meaning of life to you?

We need more of that...

DeAndre Liggins and Josh Harrellson played an excellent game against the Volunteers Tuesday night. This time the fab freshmen did not shine quite as bright, and that is what we need.

Jones, Knight, and Lamb are 3 of the most talented Freshmen in the nation, so it is expected for them to play excellent (and they usually do), but if the rest of the team steps up, like last night, there will not be a team in the nation who can beat us.

Yeah, Ohio State is good and Duke and Texas are decent (well, more than decent), but I know that if this young Wildcats team plays together and the "veterans" play well, we will go far in March.

A New Beginning

I know you have heard it: "I am ready for something else, something different. It is time for a new beginning."
When one develops a feeling like they have been irrational, have messed up, or have been unhappy one too many times, they want to start over...sounds good right?
Of course, if everyone could start over or could have "do overs," we would all be happy. Unfortunately, that is not the case, and will never be.

Instead of new beginnings, why can't we all just accept who we are and what we have done and move on.
Instead of shining light on mistakes made, why not shine light on the future and make it bright?

Find something that heals...music, friends, traveling, reading, running, writing (or blogging), or watching a movie...whatever helps in your time of need.
Tired of doing the same old "junk"? Try something new and make it your own hobby.
The possibilities in finding something to help one overcome life's struggles are endless!

As a mankind, we are not going to change, nor are we going to change the world...but subtly YOU can change yourself and your little part of the world.

Forget new beginnings, because they are not something we can do...just be yourself and do what makes you happy, because in the end, what really matters anyway besides having happiness?

The Point of a Blog

I have not held to my original intent on keeping my blog updated and to continue the promotion of it.
Journalism 101 prompted me to start a blog, but life, carelessness, and no ideas has led to a "blank blog."

Well, now it is updated!

Twitter>FaceSpace

WOW it has been a while since I have blogged about anything. Maybe the tragedy of losing to WVU and then losing our starting five is beginning to blow over or maybe I just now have something to say:

Facebook is not for me anymore my friends. There, I said it.

Here is my rational behind deactivating my Facebook account and rallying people to create Twitter accounts, it is something different. Sure, sooner or later Twitter will be swarmed with pre-teen drama and high school "I gives a damn!" But at least we have hope that another network will open for those of us who want to drift away (just like Twitter).

As of now, Twitter is that hope to drift away from the statuses that nobody cares about. We do not care that you are dying of a broken heart...we also do not care that you are on your period (yes I have seen that one folks).

Facebook became the way to boycott Myspace when there became profiles for a person's pet or when your friends posted obscene photos of you that your boss found, now Facebook is becoming that way...TWITTER (what a cool name for a social network)!

I know this post seems to de-convey (is that even a word?) my point that EVERYONE and their mother's mother's brother (literally) is on Facebook, but trust me, many people will not attempt Twitter because they are still enthralled with Facebook.

I am not taking a stab at those of you who enjoy Facebook, not at all am I doing that. I am just talking about those of us who wanted a change, something different. Twitter is that something. I have had a Twitter account for over a year and I am happy to see more and more people that I know on there. Keep joining guys!

And, I say this with pride...let us Tweet!

The Lost Season

Tragedy.

Tears.

Disappointment.

Those words surrounded the conclusion of the UK vs. WVU Elite Eight game on Saturday night. The season ended for the Wildcats with a sloppy game. Big Blue Nation members cried, felt depression settle in and seen the 8th banner slip away.

This past season has been a great season where freshmen records were set and the Freshman of the Year and possibly the National Player of the Year came from this team of "diaper dandies."
The game was a tragedy with tears and disappointment, but there is optimism in the future, as always: "there is always next year."

For all Cats fans who are down, look up, it helps. Coach Cal is an excellent recruiter and coach who will remain one the premier college coaches and will bring the Cats up from a 12 year drought and win the 8th National Title.

Let Me Fill You In...

I had a good friend ask me what the recently passed health care bill consists of. It is important for all of us to know what the bill encompasses. So, for those of you who need some filling in, here you go. For those of you who know what is going on, feel free to add to this post via comment.

So the story goes something like this...

Approximately 40 million Americans do not have health care insurance for whatever reason(s). The bill is supposed to cover those people without and provide those of us who have health care with better, cheaper insurance.

The plan included funding for abortion, but when that was removed, the Democrats gathered the votes from those on the fence bc they were not going to vote for the bill if federally funded abortion was included. There was talk of providing health insurance for illegals, but I am pretty sure that was removed as well. Government will require everyone to have insurance or fines will be enforced.

The Pros:
-those who lack insurance will have it, thus hopefully creating a healthier America
-people like you and I will be on our parents health insurance until we are 26 years old, but it seems irrelevant if EVERYONE is going to be insured.
-prices are SUPPOSED to go down, in terms of premiums for doctor visits and I am guessing for medical procedures too

The Cons:
-will cost a lot
-paid for by taking out of the Medicare fund and raising taxes for everyone (essentially taking from the rich and poor and giving to the poorest)
-weakens economy bc: a) no competition in health insurance field which is crucial for a strong economy and b) more taxes takes money out of our pockets that could be spent on products and services that help economy and c) taxes hurt small businesses which in turn causes more job losses.
-waiting to see a doctor will be longer bc more people will have access and like now the people who have it completely free will swarm the clinic and pharmacies, creating for crowds...this could make an outbreak of the Flu even worse.
-if the service is like Canada, which many think it will be, then you could go weeks or months before seeing a doctor in many circumstances that are urgent.

And that is the view from this side.
